Participate in the Census 2011
May 5, 2011
The Canadian Census is underway – and every Canadian household is being asked to participate.
Information collected in the Census will determine population, influence how many Members of Parliament are required to govern Canada and also help the federal government decide how to allocate resources like budgets and transfer payments to provinces and communities.
Because the Census will steer such important decisions, it’s vital that all Manitobans participate. In fact, all Canadians are required by law to answer the Census questions.
Each Household* will receive a letter with a secure passcode that can be used to complete the questionnaire online. Some households will receive a paper copy but most Winnipeg household will not. If do not receive a paper copy and you are unable to complete the questionnaire online you will have to request one by calling the Census Help Line.
All information provided in the Census will be protected by law. If questionnaires are not returned by May 10th, reminders will be sent by telephone or mail. If the Census is still not completed an interviewer will visit and collect the information in person.
If you need a paper copy or if you need help to fill out the census you can call the Census Help Line starting May 2, 2011
