Communication Centre for Children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

Providing early intervention services and support for Deaf and hard of hearing children and their families, nurturing communication, learning, and development.

what we offer.

Through a family-centred and strength-based approach, we provide therapy services at Specialized Services for Children and Youth Centre (SSCY) or in children's homes, daycares and schools. Therapy services can include working directly with the child, doing hands-on activities to support communication development; or consultative support for caregivers and teachers who work with the child.

Our team of language specialists, occupational and physiotherapists develop a comprehensive program that supports expression and connection through American Sign Language (ASL), spoken language, pictures and gestures, or combination/bi-lingual.

who is eligible.

The Communication Centre for Children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing is available to children from birth to kindergarten graduation who have permanent sensorineural or conductive hearing loss. Services are provided at no charge to families in Manitoba that meet the eligibility requirement.
